"TOCS project “The role of Citizens in economic, social and environmental sustainability” starts from the desire to regenerate and continue the path started with the “Plus European Citizenship Less Euroscepticism” project, financed by EACEA within the “Europe for Citizens” Program 2014- 2020 and implemented in August 2019. 112 participants, 5 days of meetings between 112 participants in two events: one in Slovakia in Oravská Polhora in September 2024; the other in Colliano in Italy in August 2025. Regenerate, because the COVID-19 pandemic has interrupted the path of continuous exchanges of citizens between the two cities. In fact, both cities are strongly linked to the bagpipe and organize a festival dedicated to this ancient instrument. Continue, because the excellent results achieved can create the foundations for bringing citizens closer to the EU and making them protagonists again in democratic life at Union level, while developing more vigorous and complex themes. The main challenge of TOCS consists in raising citizens' awareness on the topic of the three sustainability issues foreseen by the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals of the European Commission, defining the role of citizens and small local authorities to achieve these goals. TOCS activities will be implemented through workshops that will make citizens the main actors for the definition of innovative actions. Through these workshops, ""TOCS"" helps citizens to exercise active and responsible citizenship and to develop a strong civic sense, becoming managers of positive change in the world and in European society. The citizens who participate in the activities envisaged by the project will be more aware of the present in which they live, they will become the main actors in the challenge to achieve three-dimensional sustainability and the future of Europe. They will be able, through virtuous behaviours, to transmit these values to other people close to them. "
