The Role of Local Governments in Job Creation

This two-day workshop will present a menu of employment promotion policies that may be implemented by local governments. The workshop's objectives are: (i) to promote alliances among both, governmental and private stakeholders involved in the process of job-creation in the five main Colombian municipalities ; (ii) to gather lessons learned from international and national experiences of local governments who proactively have sought to promote employment; and (iii) to provide analytical and operational feedback on the on-going process of development of job-creation strategies of those municipalities; and (vi) to position the Bank as a developmental partner of Colombian local governments with regards to employment promotion.
