The Sexual Theatre - A Feminist Readings of Classics

closed

The title of the project refers to Kate Millett’s “Sexual Politics”, the famous and one of the first and most important books defining the feminist critical approach in the culture used as a conceptual framework of this project. The overall goal is to improve the quality of theater topics and narratives by implementing feminist's reading of literature through international co- productions and exchange of artists from 2 EU and 2 WB countries. This will be achieved through international activities such as training for writers, directors and managers, artistic residencies for writers, 4 theater co-productions and new international festivals. Within the artistic residences guest writers will work with specific groups on deconstructing the classics. The idea is to deconstruct gender stereotypes in well-known national books in light of the specific gender-based challenges women/men face in partner countries. The co-production in each country will be based on cooperation between guest writer and director with a local group of actors. Productions will tour around all partner cities in a form of a festival.
