The shared legends project

Main objective : For 20 years, the ‘Centre de l’Imaginaire Arthurien’ (the Arthurian Imaginative World Centre) has worked to publicise Breton and Celtic legends via cultural tourism or educational actions (school visits or intervention within schools). The encounter between the team of the Center Arthurien and the Chagford artists revealed another way of interpreting legends and involving people in the projects and realizations. The project SHARED LEGENDS whishes to implement exchanges and cooperation between artists from the Massif of Brocéliande (Brittany) and Dartmoor (Devon) around a legend common to both regions to encourage a better understanding of both cultures. The theme chosen by the project partners is the “Lai de Lanval” (‘Sir Landeval’), a poem written by the poetess Marie de France, who lived in France and in England. Main actions : - Contact and practical developments of actions: Contact between artists and preparation of the exhibition Realization of the film’s pre-script Finding schools for partnership Partners meeting: resource pool, exhibition planning, shooting planning, shooting location in Brocéliande Creation of settings and costumes - Realization: Redaction of the educational kit Partners meeting: press presentation; pooling of technical resources; encounters between artists and classes Casting in Brittany Creation and printing of the exhibition brochure Exhibition of the artists’ works and sketches for the film Shooting in Brittany and England Organisation of an exhibition in England Presentation of the film
