Theater in 1 Car

In this project we will fit theater in one car to reach rural and marginalized communities. Many of these communities rarely have access to theater and cultural events or any dialogue related to European values and inclusion. These communities are isolated from the international cultural circulation and the urban independent theater artists. The majority of artists aspire to reach out to urban audiences and create expensive, non-sustainable performances, not taking in consideration that the blue ocean of cultural market is in the countryside. Slow tours should be a widespread movement not only in tourism but also in the performative art scene. In this initiative we will educate artists and develop an artistic methodology that supports the creation of sustainable and eco-friendly performances, that portray rural communities and interethnic stories in a non-stereotypical way. The created performances will be presented to numerous rural communities. The members of the audience will participate in interactive follow-up events related to the topics of the shows. The interactive events will empower the communities, bring European values and inclusion closer to them. The methodology of the project will be published in the form of a digital guide, so artists can access innovative methods on: how two actors can play multiple characters in the same show, how to avoid stereotypical portraying of marginalized groups, how to create eco-friendly, easily transportable sets, how to involve rural community members of different backgrounds in interactive follow-up events related to a performance. The new performances will be featured during the in.v.s.b.l international performing arts festival in Romania. The video recordings of the performances will be streamed world-wide on international platforms. Experts in the cultural field will be reached on an international level by the digital methodology guide during the in.v.s.b.l festival, an online conference and an offline workshop.
