The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library (TRPL) is a 95,000-square-foot cultural sustainability project located in Medora, North Dakota. It spans 93 acres in the Badlands and overlooks Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Designed by the architecture firm Snøhetta, the library aims to achieve full Living Building Challenge certification, making it the only Living Certified presidential library and the largest and most complex Living Certified cultural institution in the world. The design integrates architecture, ecology, and human experience into a living system that restores native habitat and works with natural processes. The library features a living roof with native prairie vegetation and an accessible boardwalk through the restored landscape.
