Description

Description

Currently, Metrobus has six (6) wheelchair accessible routes with plans to phase in additional routes as wheelchair accessible buses are added to the fleet. Through funding approved under the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund (PTIF) in 2016, all concrete shelter pads throughout the Metrobus service area (identified to be required in the next 2-3 years) will be modified or replaced to accommodate wheelchair accessible shelters. In addition, the purchase of twenty-nine (29) wheelchair accessible shelters to replace non-wheelchair accessible shelters along current wheelchair routes has also been approved under PTIF. In preparation for the expansion of our wheelchair accessible service, this project will fund the purchase of an additional thirty-one (31) wheelchair accessible shelters to replace non-accessible shelters on routes that are anticipated to be designated as wheelchair accessible in the next 2-3 years.
