Description | The first phase of the Metro rail project in Thiruvananthapuram with revised alignment approved by the state government. The implementing agency, Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), is revising the detailed project report (DPR) originally prepared by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The revised DPR will be submitted for state cabinet approval and then to the ministry of road transport and highways for central sanction. Construction is expected to start within six months of approvals and complete within 30 months. The project cost is estimated at Rs 8,000 crore, funded 60% by loans and 40% shared equally by state and Centre. Future extensions are planned to improve connectivity. |
