Description | The redevelopment of Thiruvananthapuram South railway station (formerly Nemom) includes a modern coaching terminal and track doubling to ease congestion at Thiruvananthapuram Central. The project features a modern station building, platform shelters, a subway connecting all platforms, a coaching terminal with parking and maintenance facilities, four platforms, two extra pit-lines, four stabling lines, and a repair shed. A new approach road from the Karamana–Kaliyikkavila state highway has been sanctioned to improve accessibility. The project aims to function as a satellite hub to shift maintenance and operational load from the overcrowded Central station. |
