Description

Description

The project will construct an additional apparatus bay at the Blackpool Volunteer Fire Department Hall that will house a new Type 2 Structural Protection Unit (SPU). An SPU is a large, diverse supply of fire protection equipment stored in a trailer that can also be used by firefighters to set up sprinklers on and around a structure. These works will be necessary for the operational effectiveness of the volunteer fire department. The Blackpool Volunteer Fire Hall was built in the emid-1970’s and requires the addition of an apparatus bay to accommodate a structural protection truck and trailer or ’Type 2 SPU’. SPU’s are full equipped to protect any size structure or group of structures which is essential for the Blackpool Volunteer Fire Department to be able to respond to fires quickly and effectively to help protect assets such as individual homes, cabins, ranches and other businesses. The project works include: -site preparation; -construction of an additional apparatus bay including foundation, slab on grade, framing and exterior and interior finishings; - installation of plumbing, electrical and mechanical works; - all related works.
