Description

Description

The project will construct an additional apparatus bay at the Vavenby Volunteer Fire Department Hall in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District. The project will house a new Type 2 Structural Protection Unit (SPU), which is a large, diverse supply of fire protection equipment stored in a trailer that can also be used by firefighters to set up sprinklers on and around a structure. These works will be necessary for the operational effectiveness of the volunteer fire department. The Vavenby Volunteer Fire Hall was building in the mid-1970’s and requires the addition of an apparatus bay to accommodate a structural protection truck and trailer or ’Type 2 SPU’. SPU’s are fully equipped to protect any size structure or group of structures which is essential for areas such as Vavenby where forests meet human development. Without the additional apparatus bay, the fire hall will not be able to accommodate this essential equipment. The project works include: -site preparation; - construction of an additional apparatus bay including foundation, slab on grade, framing and exterior and interior finishings; - installation of plumbing, electrical and mechanical works; and, - all related works.
