Description

Description

The aim of this project is to replace the old ultraviolet (UV) treatment system at the Thornbury wastewater treatment plant, which is nearing the end of its useful life with current technology. The services of a consulting engineer will be retained to carry out the detailed design and related tender administration and construction tasks, culminating in the selection of a contractor, dismantling of the existing system, conversion of the electrical installation and installation of the new UV treatment system. During final design it was discovered that the concrete channel required improvements and adjustments to allow for more efficient operations of the new UV. In addition, an effluent level controller to minimize variations in flow to keep lamps at an ideal operating submersion and an operator SCADA interface was required at the UV panel. It was also identified that more programming was required for Module Communication Alarms. For health and safety reasons, a module lifting device was added which included a davit crane, base and lifting sling, hand winch including an adjustable boom and a swivel handle for rotation and positioning of the UV units.
