Description

Description

The objective of this project is to replace the roof of the Thornbury Water Plant that has reached the end of its useful life. The scope of work is to engage a consulting engineer to complete the detailed design and associated tendering and construction administration tasks culminating in the selection of a contractor and the removal of the existing roof and installation of a new roof. The integrity of the operational systems to provide clean drinking water depends on the soundness of the building facility within it operates. The building envelope, of which the roof is a critical component, protects the treatment equipment from outside elements and is critical to the reliability of equipment. Without a functioning roof in place, water intrusion will lead to electrical failures and corrosion that will disable equipment and threaten the plant’s ability to treat water. Without a sound building housing the equipment, including a sound roof, the treatment plant will be ineffectual.
