The US Department of Energy has agreed to a $1 billion loan to Constellation Energy to help finance the restart. The plant will supply power to Microsoft's data centres under a 20-year agreement. The plant's functioning reactor, renamed the Crane Clean Energy Center, is being restored with equipment including the turbine, generator, main power transformer, and cooling and control systems. The plant is expected to be operational again by 2027. |
