Description | The Thrikkakara Municipal Co-operative Hospital was launched on June 13, 1999, with the goal to offer affordable treatment to local residents, especially those priced out of the private healthcare system. It is the only hospital in Kerala established under the People’s Plan project of a local body. The hospital started with two doctors and two nurses and now serves around 800 patients daily with 28 doctors and 15 consultants. It charges only a third of the cost compared to private hospitals. The hospital is planning new facilities and expansion to continue serving the lower strata of society. |
