Thu Dau Mot Water Expansion Project

The proposed assistance, involving an ADB OCR corporate loan of up to $6 million, will support TDM in expanding the Bau Bang Water Treatment Plant (WTP) by 50,000 cubic meters per day (m/day) and installing an 8.0-kilometer raw water pipeline to increase transmission capacity. To keep pace with Binh Duong Province's rapid economic and population growth over the next five years, TDM is expanding the Bau Bang WTP from its current capacity of 30,000 m/day to 80,000 m/day. This expansion will help ensure a reliable supply of clean water to meet the rising demand of residential, commercial, and industrial end users. Access to clean, sustainable water is essential for daily life, economic growth, attracting foreign direct investment, and job creation. Furthermore, the project supports the government's equitisation reforms, aimed at transitioning from state-owned enterprises to private sector utilities. This private sector shift is expected to improve operational efficiency and help reduce public and publicly guaranteed debt in Viet Nam's infrastructure sector.
