Thunderbird Commerce Center Data Center Campus

DC Blox, an Atlanta-based developer, plans to build a three-building data center campus on the site of the former Ford Visteon manufacturing site in the East Gate neighborhood of Indianapolis. The project involves redevelopment of a site unused since 2007, with the factory demolished in 2017. The site is part of the Thunderbird Commerce Center, a 150-acre industrial park with other tenants. The project is a more than $2 billion investment, expected to create 35 permanent high-wage jobs and up to 600 temporary construction jobs over several years. DC Blox is seeking a variance of use approval to build the data center without full rezoning, and has committed to paying for all related infrastructure costs including a new substation. The first phase includes one building and may take up to two years, with the other two buildings taking up to four years to complete. A public hearing is scheduled for May 14, 2026.
