Tiandong County Living Environment Integrated Rehabilitation Project

This promotional loan of up to EUR 80 million is for the financing of a bilateral project to improve urban drainage and wastewater disposal in Tiandong County in the Guangxi Autonomous Region. The aim of the project is to contribute to reducing environmental pollution in the Youjiang River catchment area and to water protection, as well as to prevent flooding in the urban area of Tiandong County. The project comprises two components. The first component focuses on the rehabilitation and expansion of the urban drainage system, which includes the construction of sewers, the construction of a new inlet pumping station, and the expansion of a treatment line of the Tiandong County sewage treatment plant. The second project component is in the area of rural wastewater treatment and envisages the construction of small village sewage treatment plants and the associated pipeline network. The project sponsor is the Tiandong County Development and Reform Commission (DRC), which has set up a Project Management Office (PMO) for implementation. A partner contribution of EUR 30 million is planned for the project.
