Description | US renewable energy company Spearmint Energy has achieved commercial operation for its Tierra Seca and Seven Flags battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Texas. Each project has a capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh and serves the ERCOT power market. The Tierra Seca BESS is located in Del Rio, Val Verde County, and Seven Flags is in Laredo city on the Mexican border. Mortenson led the project execution as the EPC contractor, and both sites use Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage platform. The projects started operations in late December 2025 and were funded by equity from Kyuden International Corp and construction financing from Manulife, East West Bank, Investec, and Sugar Creek Capital. |
