Description
Description | This project involved the construction and operation of a 24-MW turbine wind facility located near Lake Arenal. The project, initially developed by Energy Works, was taken over by Energia Global and International Wind Corp. in October 1998. The total project cost (US $24.5-million) was funded through a financial package arranged through DANIDA (the Danish development agency), BCIE (Central American Bank for Economic Integration), and a consortium of five Central American banks led by Banco Interfin. The state-owned Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) agreed to purchase up to 20-MW of electricity through a 15-year power purchase agreement. The project started its commercial operations in mid-1999. |
