Tigre Small Hydro Power Plant

Tigre Producao de Energia Eletrica Ltda, a partnership of the Brazilian companies BICC Participacoes Ltda (30%), Industrias de Compensados Guararapes Ltda (29%) and small local investors (41%), was granted the authorization to build and operate a 9-MW hydro power plant located in the state of Parana (Marrecas River). The power plant was named PCH Tigre. A 30-year authorization contract was granted by the regulatory agency ANEEL in December 2004. In May 2015, the company had been granted power purchase agreements to sell electricity to distribution companies starting in 2020. The company presented a winning bid of US$ 58.4/MWh (BRL 195 MWh). The investment committed to the power plant was estimated at US$ 20.5 million (BRL 29.7 million). Construction works commenced in November 2014 and were in advanced stages by December 2015. Commercial operations were expected to commence in 2017.
