Our project aims to provide the necessary tools to promote the inclusion of transgender individuals in sports, with a special focus on team sports. This is based on the understanding that transgender issues are still a significant taboo and that transgender people often face discrimination and violence, as evidenced by the Transgender Day of Remembrance and reports from the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). Many LGBTQI+ individuals avoid sports environments for safety and comfort reasons, limiting their access to the benefits of sports. The specific objectives of our project include: promoting awareness of the challenges faced by transgender individuals, training board members of sports associations and coaches on how to welcome and include transgender people, and creating a guide for inclusion in sports associations. Through these initiatives, we aim to overcome existing barriers and create a more inclusive and welcoming sports environment for transgender individuals. We want sports to be a safe and enriching space for everyone, recognizing its value in promoting physical and mental health, personal development, and a sense of community belonging.
