TNL PSC SA (Oi) is a mobile network company with GSM technology. It was launched by Tele Norte Leste Participacoes SA (Telemar) on July of 2002. The company operates in Region I on Band D, accordingly to the geographic division established by Anatel, the Brazilian regulatory agency for telecommunications. Region I is the same region operated by Telemar in fixed lines. Telemar won the action conducted by Anatel for mobile, paying US$ 279 million (R$ 550 million) on February 1st of 2001 and US$ 271 million (R$ 632 million) on February 1st of 2002 for the license authorization. Oi initiated its operation on July of 2002. In May 2003, through an internal reestructuring, the corporate control of Oi was transfered from the holding Tele Norte Leste Participacoes to the operating company Telemar Norte Leste. In 2004, the services of TNL PCS (Oi) were merged with Telemar, project #1483, as the sole operator. None None
