Tofino - Secondary Wastewater Treatment and System Upgrades Phase 2

The proposed project will construct a wastewater treatment facility that meets provincial and federal regulatory standards that require sewage treatment to at least a secondary standard and will improve and protect the local marine environment. The facility and related infrastructure will service the District of Tofino, Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, and Parks Canada will have the ability to connect to the District’s sanitary conveyance system in the future. The project works will include: - Upgrades to sewage pump stations PS1, PS2, PS4, PS19 and PS21, including mechanical and electrical works - Installation of approximately 5.3 km of new forcemain and gravity sewers; - replacement of existing outfall including approximately 500m of pipe, new diffuser and emergency overflow port; - access road and water supply to wastewater treatment plant; and, - related civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
