This network of Towns is promoted by the Municipality of Arnot (Hungary). It aims at involving several municipality in Europe with the main objective to strengthen the European and democratic dimension of the decision-making process, thus to foster awareness about the functioning of European political life. The Project wants to increase knowledge about the exercise of the electoral rights and the expression of duties and rights, mostly in the light of the upcoming European elections of 2024, with the scope to counteract disinformation and low turnout, in the European citizens, with particular reference to the younger ones. The recent times are leading the youngsters to a crisis of values, caused in first place by the two years of pandemic and now by the war in Ukraine that is somehow involving the European Union, giving rise to uncertainties and lack of trust in the future. This, in turn, causes passiveness and disinterest, mostly in the younger generations. Therefore, the Project wants to work to promote a sense of belonging and a sense of citizenship, with the aim to strengthen the Union among the European citizens, in order to make them the protagonists of the future of Europe. wAR NOT Project foresees 5 different events, spread in a 24 months time. During these meetings the participants will discuss about the roles and the functioning of the European Union, its importance in our everyday life, the need to reinforce the citizens involvement in European political life (with particular reference to the upcoming 2024 European elections), the importance of the social and political cohesion among the citizens coming from different Countries. The expected impact is linked to the creation of a strong sense of belonging in the participants, that could bring them to act concretely for the future of Europe and to make them feel part of it. The Project wants to make these objectives sustainable, in order to allow the creation of similar initiatives.
