The project ensures the improvement of health-care services for early diagnosis of cancer and innovative treatment in four hospitals in Timișoara, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Kladovo and Veliko Gradište for the benefit of the population in the Timiș -Mehedinți - Bor - Braničevo - South Banat area in an integrated and inclusive approach. The specific objective of the project: 1.- Improving the health-care infrastructure for cancer diagnosis and treatment of the Emergency Municipal Clinical Hospital Timișoara, County Emergency Hospital Drobeta Turnu Severin, Kladovo Health Care Center and Veliko Gradište Health Center. 2.- Improving the access of the population in the Romanian-Serbian border region to quality medical services for early diagnosis of cancer and to innovative methods of treating cancerous diseases. More specifically, the project aims to equip four hospitals from Romania and Serbia with state-of-the-art medical equipment and specific consumables to better detect and treat cancer, with focus on ovarian cancer, other genito-breast and uro-genital cancers, colorectal cancer, appendix cancer, gastric cancer. Also, 2 oncological centres will be set up in Timișoara-LP1 and Kladovo-PP2 and the patients will be treated through innovative methods. Also, an e-learning and telemedicine system will be set up to connect the project partners and improve the quality of the medical act, workshops and forums and a study on the frequency of cancer in the area of the project. The activities of the project will contribute to the creation of a medical community of support and exchange of experience between the professionals of the hospitals from the border region that will continue to function even after the implementation of this project. The results of the project lead to the improvement of the medical act in the partner hospitals, which in the long run will lead to the decrease of the cancer mortality rate in the region targeted by the project.
