Togo - Aflao - Sanve Condji - Benin Border Road Rehabilitation and Modernisation Project: Lome Port Roundabout - Avepozo

The Aflao-Sanve Condji-Benin Border Road Rehabilitation and Modernization Project falls within Togo’s Interim Priority Actions Programme (PIAP) for the 2008-2010 period. The section to be financed by the Bank is a 10.3 km-long stretch on the RN3 road, two-thirds 2/3 of which are in the urban area. It is located between PK9.2 and PK19.5, from the Lome Port Roundabout to Avepozo. It passes through the port area and the Baguida district in the Prefecture du Golfe. The proposed project is consistent with the “Growthoriented infrastructure development” objective of Pillar II of the I-PRSP, and the country’s aim to diversify its supply corridors to facilitate regular, less costly and quality trade with neighbouring countries. This project, which concerns the portion between the Lome Port Roundabout and Avepozo comprises: (i) development of 10.3 km road from PK9.2 to PK19.5; (ii) construction of related socio-economic infrastructure; (iii) works control and supervision, as well as sensitization on environmental protection and road safety; (iv) studies on roads and SMEs in the building and public works sector; and (v) support for management, monitoring-evaluation and auditing of accounts of the project.
