Description | The Tolmachevo Airport started operations in 1959, and, the Joint-Stock Company Tolmachevo Airport was created as part of the Russian government privatization program in 1995. Through a voucher program, private individuals acquired 49% stake in the company. The airport was a cargo and passenger hub for West Siberia. The airport was also a relay point for cargo delivered to/from the Asian Republics of the CIS, Mongolia and China. In Feb. 1998, the EBRD approved a US$ 10 million guaranteed-loan to the airport. This funding financed a US$ 16 million investment project undertaken by the company. On March 3 2011, the state property management agency sold the remaining 51% of shares, owned by the Federal government, through an auction for 2.8 billion rubles (US$ 9.7 million) to AeroService, affiliated with logistics firm Novoport, which made the highest economic offer. |
