Description | Australian utility AGL Energy Ltd has taken a Final Investment Decision (FID) for its 500-MW/2,000-MWh Tomago battery in New South Wales. The two-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) will be installed at a total cost of around AUD 800 million. The project is planned to initiate construction works late in 2025 and is expected to become operational at the end of 2027. Fluence Energy Inc will serve as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) provider and will deliver its technology for the project. The battery will be located near Raymond Terrace in the Hunter Region within the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). |
