Toro Creek Bridge Replacement

The bridge replacement project is under construction by Souza Construction, Incorporated, with in-creek work planned for June 1, 2022. The project proposes to upgrade existing geometric and seismic deficiencies on the existing northbound Toro Creek Bridge (Bridge Number 49-68R) by constructing bridge rails that meet updated roadside safety hardware testing and standard shoulder widths via replacement of the existing bridge structure. Other work will include placing rock slope protection, upgrading guardrail and end treatments, and adding plant establishment. The new bridge will comply with current seismic, hydraulic, and structural standards. The bridge will maintain the existing two traffic lanes and provide improvements that will include Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware-compliant bridge rails and standard shoulders that will accommodate a Class III bicycle route. The bridge approaches will also be modified to match the existing roadway with the new bridge. Bicycle traffic will also be detoured during construction. Bicycle and vehicle traffic will be detoured onto the southbound Toro Creek Bridge, and both the northbound and southbound traffic will have a dedicated one lane in each direction through the construction duration (expected to be through spring 2023).
