Toronto Micro-Shelters Pilot Project

planned

The city of Toronto conducted an audit of nearly 70 potential public sites for micro shelters intended for people experiencing homelessness. The city initially reviewed 44 city-owned sites and 23 TTC parking lots but found none suitable due to conflicts with other municipal uses, ownership issues, size constraints, and infrastructure limitations. The micro shelters are part of Toronto's 10-year homelessness strategy with a two-year pilot project inviting non-profits to submit proposals identifying land for usage. The application window ended in February with only three submissions under review.
