Description | The market for new condominium apartments in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) is experiencing a significant decline in sales and construction starts. Sales in the second quarter of 2025 dropped 69% year-over-year, with only 502 new condo apartments sold. There were only three projects launched for pre-sales in the second quarter (891 units), while four projects (719 units) were cancelled, totaling 20 projects and 4,360 units cancelled since 2024. Construction starts amounted to 1,276 units in the second quarter of 2025, down 57% from a year ago and 84% from two years ago. The market is functioning at about 10% of its normal volume, with high unsold inventory and declining prices. |
