Description | The Trump administration will pay nearly $1 billion to French energy giant TotalEnergies to abandon plans for offshore wind farms in the Atlantic Ocean and instead pursue fossil fuel projects in the US. This includes reimbursing the company for federal leases purchased under the Biden administration for two offshore wind farms off the coasts of New York and North Carolina. TotalEnergies will use the funds to develop a new liquified natural gas plant in Texas and oil drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico and shale oil projects elsewhere in the US. |
