Description
Description | The north pedestrian bridge has eroded over time. Bank restoration and concrete matting as well as sheet pile walls were explored as options to address the slope instability. The engineering solutions will be revisited and revised as needed to suit the current level of erosion and subsequently implemented for construction for the 2020/2021 season. The work for the project will include: -Bank restoration and armouring (concrete matting) of the north bank of Finlayson Island; -Replacement of the south jump span with a longer span to move the foundations further away from the extents of the North Saskatchewan River; -Replacement of expansion joints; -Replacing deteriorated concrete on piers. -Removal of decommissioned gas line and corroded supports; and -Steel truss member upgrades with new plates and bolting. |
