Description
Description | The installation of new sidewalk, approximately 500 meters in length x 3 meters in width, tying in of pavement to the sidewalk and all associated works extending along 1st Avenue North between 1st Street North and Ausland Street in the Town of Big River. The new sidewalk will provide long term, sustainable infrastructure for public use which will benefit the community and will help support Canada’s pandemic response and economic recovery work by inspiring community resilience. The sidewalk will extend along 1st Avenue North, between 1st Street to Ausland Street, which includes a large section along the Big River Health Center which has high pedestrian traffic. The wide sidewalk will allow for pedestrian traffic to have a safe social distancing of six feet and will be wide enough for people in wheel chairs, strollers, and walkers to pass within a safe distance of one another. Our main objective is to promote physical activity and provide safe social distancing for pedestrian traffic. The current pavement along the street would also require to be extended to the sidewalk to tie in from pavement to sidewalk. The sidewalk would also reduce walking along the roadway and decrease accidents involving pedestrians. |
