Description
Description | The Lagoon Expansion Project for Birch Hills will involve the current secondary storage cell being expanded. The upgrades will include: an additional secondary cell; new control structures; twinning of current effluent pipe. With the water treatment plant upgrades and planning for residential and commercial/industrial development, the lagoon system will not be able to meet WSA and provincial/federal regulations due to capacity. The new lagoon cell will result in both primary and secondary cells having adequate treatment capacity under the new regulations and projected wastewater flow rates. The new cell will be constructed to current regulations. The outcome will be increased storage capacity to meet 20-year projected wastewater rates with a new RO treatment system, update the lagoon treatment capacity to suit current WSA regulations, matching the design capacity of the primary and secondary cells, and increased effluent discharge capacity to meet WSA regulations for discharge periods. |
