Description

Description

The Town of Fort Qu’Appelle, located in Treaty 4 territory, operates their Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to meet the needs of the residents (of which over a third are of Indigenous or First Nations heritage) and businesses of the Town of Fort Qu’Appelle (population of 1,972) as well as the All Nations Healing Hospital (owned and operated by the File Hills Tribal Council and the Touchwood Agency Tribal Council). The facility is over 32 years old and many systems are requiring replacement or upgrades. The Town has been proactive in assessing the conditions and required work, and this scope includes the replacement of antiquated electrical and controls, a new backup generator, sustainability improvements, safety improvements for air quality, and public health protection by removing drinking water contamination risks. The Town has started the design of the improvements before the grant was open, and will utilize this momentum to achieve a quick construction period for this shovel ready project.
