Description
Description | The objective of the Town of Gravelbourg-Landfill Decommissioning project is to decommission and reclaim the landfill. There is a ground water monitoring program in place; therefore, the scope of the Project includes the Corrective Action Plan that has not been completed, as well as, completing and implementing a Decommissioning and Reclamation plan that is acceptable to the Ministry of Environment’s Landfill Section. Decommissioning and Reclamation activities include the design and construction of the final engineered cover, storm water management, removal of existing infrastructure, recycling, metal, concrete, clean wood piles, installation of monitoring wells, reclamation activities to ensure it is in conformance with the surrounding lands and the future intended use, and construction of an off site transfer station. The reclaimed landfill and transfer station will be owned by The Town of Gravelbourg. Decommissioning and reclamation of the proposed landfill will attenuate the generation of leachate which in turn increases capacity to reduce soil pollutants which contributes to the outcome under the environmental quality stream. |
