Description

Description

The objective of the project is to increase the capacity of critical watermains on 1st Ave., Bettez St., Main St. and 7th Ave. due to decommission the aging water tower that has exceeded its design life. Numerous commercial, institutional, and residential properties including the community’s hospital/senior care home, high school, St. Mathieu College and the fire hall would benefit from having more reliable and improved fire protection and potable water availability with improved pressures and flows. The existing watermain on 1st Avenue will be undersized and unable to provide the current level of service once the water tower is decommissioned. The project includes improving the level of service by increasing from a 200mm dia. to a 300mm diameter main. Connection mains on Bettez St. and Main St. to the hospital and fire hall respectively are made of aging asbestos cement pipe, and will be be replaced. All lateral service connections will be replaced where watermains are replaced.
