Town of Herbert - Herbert Landfill Closure

Landfill Decommissioning Project: The Town of Herbert has completed Phase II of the Environmental Site Assessment on the the site formally known as the Herbert Landfill. The site is approximately 1.6 hectares. The next objective is to comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Environment as follows: 1. By submitting a Discharge and Discovery report for contaminant concentrations reported above the Discharge and Discovery Reporting Standards. 2. Formulation and execution of a corrective action plan (CAP) and; 3. Closure 4. Create a serviceable Transfer Station on the former Landfill site - Following completion of the closure the Town will continue to use the land as a Transfer Station. It is the Town’s plan to also construct a Z-wall onsite for the existing domestic waste roll-off bin, and to construct a gravel driving surface onsite.
