The scope of work for the Project includes the rehabilitation of one water treatment facility, including filters, and pumps. A new well will be installed to provide capacity, reliability and redundancy to the Town’s water supply, which is currently at risk should the single existing well experience a failure. The Project will also replace approximately 2,400m of local water pipes and 605m of transmission pipes, including associated hydrants and appurtenances, and replace the valves in order to avoid water main breaks. The Project will upgrade the existing water treatment and distribution system to meet Canadian Drinking Water Quality standards. The Town of Ituna has confirmed that there have not been any long-term drinking water advisories, however in 2018, the Water Security Agency issued a precautionary boil water advisory. That advisory has since been lifted.
