The Community Centre will house the following entities: Town Office, rental hall, daycare facilities, library, and possible medical clinic. The proposed facility will allow the Town to use the space for ongoing/future pandemics. If required, the building may be used as a temporary shelter, quarantine, or field hospital and will support safety measures and physical distancing. Alternatively, it may be used as an emergency operations centre. Hand sanitizing stations will be positioned throughout the facility. The Community Centre will be larger than and will replace the old Legion Building that was in town. The Legion Building is no longer fit for use, no longer has utility services, and is scheduled to be demolished in spring 2021. The Legion has turned the land over to the municipality for its use. There is no other municipal-owned facility that would be able to accommodate this use.
