Description
Description | The project’s main objectives are to increase storage to meet recommended fire demand capacities and minimum requirements for bacteriological, turbidity, and chemical parameters. The Town’s existing water treatment plant (WTP) does not achieve 4 Log (99.99%) inactivation for viruses as required by the Saskatchewan Drinking Water Quality Guidelines. This deficiency presents an increased risk to public health & safety. The secondary objective is to reduce sulphate, total hardness, and total dissolved solids. The project scope involves installing two new raw water wells, a pre-filtration system, a reverse osmosis filtration system, construction of a treated water reservoir with approximately 90 cubic meters of storage, building expansion, and purchasing a backup power generator, associated distribution and general treatment plant construction requirements. The outcome is a WTP that meets provincial and federal requirements and removes carcinogenic disinfectant by-products. |
