Description
Description | The project consists of the construction of a new wastewater treatment facility and associated works in the town of Mulgrave The scope of the work involves the construction of a new wastewater treatment facility, a new lift station and 1.30km of forcemain. The project aims to enable the Town to construct a wastewater treatment facility that meets the federal effluent regulations. The project involves pumping and treating the sewage flows, presently being treated at the Town’s existing Main Street sewage treatment plant. Over 75% of the Town’s sewage is treated at the Main Street plant. This 49 years old plant is in poor condition and is undersized for the flows that it receives. As such, a significant amount of untreated or inadequately treated sewage is discharged to Mill Street Brook in the center of the Town. The project will direct the consolidated of flows, at the Main Street plant, to a new pumping station and then pump the flow, via a 1.3 km forcemain, to a new treatment plant facility to be constructed at the site of the Town’s second treatment plant. This second existing treatment plant, known as the Venus Cove treatment plant, was built in 1980 and is too small to treat all the Town’s flow. A new treatment plant will be constructed at the Venus Cove treatment plant site and will reuse or repurpose existing plant infrastructure where possible. |
