Description
Description | The current wastewater treatment system employed by the Town of Oxbow is severely undersized and is not meeting the regulatory discharge criteria and urgently needs to be upgraded. The objective of this project is to increase the wastewater treatment capacity to meet current and projected 2035 wastewater demand in an optimized and cost-effective manner, configuring the new treatment system, reconciled optimally with the existing system, decommissioning outdated and marginalized components, and adding current environmentally responsible and sustainable technology to facilitate the objective. The main component to the project is to upgrade the current wastewater system to a Submerged Attached Growth Reactor (SAGR) system including two 70m x 12m aerated SAGR cells along the South side of the existing primary lagoon cell. This system will increase the wastewater treatment capacity to meet projected 2035 wastewater demands while significantly reducing the footprint. As well, the treatment of the effluent will be increased to meet the current regulatory discharge criteria. |
