Description

Description

The Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility Project (the Project), located in the Town of Rocky Mountain House, consists of the design and construction of a new mechanical wastewater treatment facility, and the decommissioning and repurposing of old lagoons into emergency and treated effluent storage. This Project will enable the wastewater treatment facility to meet provincial and federal regulatory limits for un-ionized ammonia and total suspended solids. The Project scope includes: • gravity sewer intake and influent wastewater pumping; • primary treatment including coarse screening, grit removal; • minimum of two sequential batch reactor trains, pumps, blowers, aeration system, chemical phosphorus removal, and instrumentation; • primary and secondary digesters as well as dual sludge holding tanks; • tertiary treatment with equalization, pumping, disk filtration and disinfection with ultra violet units; and • sludge management equipment and associated electrical and supervisory control and data acquisition systems. The Project will benefit the health of the residents and wildlife in the Town, eliminate the current environmental concerns, and reduce adverse impacts on the North Saskatchewan River. This upgrade will also allow the Town to accommodate future growth and attract new economic development with a reliable wastewater treatment system.
