Description
Description | The main objective of this project is the decommissioning of the approximately 80,000 m2 landfill. Closure includes capping of the existing Waste Management Facility (WMF) cells. The Town has submitted their WMF Closure Plan to the Ministry of Environment and received approval of the plan on March 20, 2020. Closure of the facility is required to be completed following the expiration of their approval to operate as per requirements. The Town of Rosetown’s WMF was constructed in 1989 and has been in operation until the fall of 2018. The facility has reached its waste capacity. The Town made the decision to move to a Transfer station and close the current WMF. The Town has constructed a Transfer Station and is only accepting Construction and Demolition waste at the landfill site. Approval from The Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment for the operation of the landfill site accepting C&D materials only expires on September 30, 2021. |
