Town of Whitecourt Centennial Park Pathway Rehabilitation

The Town of Whitecourt is requesting funding from the Active Transportation Fund to complete the Centennial Park Pathway System Rehabilitation. Whitecourt currently has over 50km of paved trail and additional unpaved trails; however, at community planning sessions it was identified that the largest trail system, Centennial Park Pathway System, needs rehabilitation. The proposed project will repair 5.2km of trail that currently has sinkholes, bumps, asphalt surface and gravel base failures, and washouts; and it will widen the pathway by approximately two feet to allow for two way traffic flow. During the project, 15 new signs will be installed in the area. The proposed project will enhance safety and usability, and encourage residents and visitors to engage in active transportation in Whitecourt.
