Description
Description | In the Town of Whitewood, the existing lagoon is undersized and has experienced active seepage along the north berm for the past few years. The Town attempted to remediate the area by excavating a narrow trench within the berm and backfilling it with bentonite clay to form a cut-off wall. This attempt was unsuccessful. The objective of the project is to upgrade the Town of Whitewood’s lagoon by: 1. Decommissioning Cell A 2. Using Cells B, C, and the northern portion of Cell D for treatment 3. Using the remaining southern portion of Cell D for storage 4. Constructing an additional storage Cell. (Cell E) By administering these upgrades, the Town meets the current environmental standards for the construction of sewage lagoons. Expansion supports community growth and ensures the Town satisfies regulatory requirements. We have been advised that new growth within the community is not allowed until the lagoon is prepared to support it. The lagoon was last upgraded in 1966. |
