Description
Description | The purpose of this project is to complete three interdependent capital projects that are in close physical proximity ( >250m). These projects will increase the capacity to treat and manage wastewater and storm water and increase access to potable water. The first location is the Vancouver Street intersection, which is a vital intersection for the Town of Yarmouth as it provides direct access to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH). The scope consists of an upgrade to audible pedestrian controllers, full underground replacement, road rebuild, and a traffic lights upgrade. It is important to note that any impacts to the Vancouver Street infrastructure may impact the quality and/or quantity of water provided to YRH. This replacement project includes 110 m of water line prior to any potential failure of the water lines supplying the hospital. The second location is a Combined sewer overflow (CSO) point. The CSO is 40M away from Vancouver Street. The Scope consists of installing a tidal check valve to prevent tidal water from entering the combined sewer system. The third location is the Gardner St. Lift Station which is a wastewater lift station that receives stormwater from the east of Town in the direction of Starrs Road and sends it to the Wastewater treatment plant. The third location is 200M from the CSO. The scope consists of removing the storm water connection to the lift station and providing a new exterior dedicated line and new outfall. |
